Children from Pontefract Academies Trust were treated to an inspirational visit from British 200m Sprint Champion, Beth Dobbin.

As well as sharing her motivational stories in a school assembly, the successful sprinter led the children in a sponsored multi fitness event where they raised £1,287 for the PE department of Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School.

After becoming the British champion, Beth will now represent Team GB at the London Stadium on the 14th – 15th July as well as the European Championships in Berlin in August.

Head of School at Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School, James Parkinson said: “The children were so excited to meet Beth and asked her lots of fantastic questions such as how much training she has to do and what they’ll need to do to be a British Champion.  We are very proud of the children and so grateful to Beth for taking the time out of her busy schedule to see us.”
