From 25 May 2018, new rules around data protection came into force. The ‘General Data Protection Regulation’ (GDPR) changes how we can use your personal data and keep it safe, and will also strengthen your rights over your own data.
The point is to make sure sensitive or private information about yourselves and your children stays safe.
We’ve made a few changes to our data policies to ensure the school stays compliant. One is an updated Privacy Notice, which you can find on this link: Privacy Notice for Pupils (provided to parents and carers)
We’ve also changed how we obtain consent where this is required, for example using photographs and videos of your child on our websites, on school publicity materials, school social media and with local media organisations. You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing the school at email@example.com
Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides public access to information held by public authorities. It does this in two ways:
- Public authorities are obliged to publish certain information about their activities; and
- Members of the public are entitled to request information from public authorities.
The Act covers any recorded information that is held by a public authority in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and by UK-wide public authorities based in Scotland.
