This page has all the information and guidance needed around home learning. However, if you need further support don’t hesitate to get in touch with school by emailing admin@carletonhigh.patrust.org.uk and the appropriate member of staff will get in touch to help.

Self-isolating Students

As you know, school is now fully open to all students, however due to restrictions and guidelines, there are situations where students won’t be able to come into school when they are self-isolating.

As a school we are committed to ensuring that all students continue to access a high quality education when they are self-isolating. Where wider groups of students are in self-isolation our preferred model is to transfer our teaching timetable for whole classes to live virtual lessons, delivered by our staff. When there are isolated individual students this isn’t possible, so we are providing work packs (links below) in each of their subject areas which replicates the lessons students will be completing in school. We request that students follow their normal school time table and complete the work in line with this, each work pack clearly outlines which term and week the lessons are and are straight forward to follow.

Students can contact their teachers for help through Show My Homework (guidance below), teachers will be able to collect work in from students when they return to school after self-isolating, and provide any feedback where needed. When students are self-isolating, regular contact will be made through pastoral staff to check on welfare and ensure they are completing school work.

SEND – We recognise that where students have additional needs the work we have provided may not be suitable. Our SENCO will endeavour to contact all parents in a reasonable time frame to provide more bespoke work where needed, once notified. But please free to contact them directly if necessary.

Home Learning Guide

We want you to be able to access all the support you need whilst studying from home. Below are various resources which provide you with the information on how to use our online learning platforms. Show My Home Work (SMHW) is our main method of communication and all home learning will be set here every Sunday. Alongside SMHW we will also be using Google Classrooms and a number of other online educational software packages that pupils are already familiar with.

Should you be experiencing problems with logging on or do not have access to an electronic device and require paper copies of work, or if you need support with any aspect of home learning, then please email: admin@carletonhigh.patrust.org.uk Your email will then be re-directed to a member of staff who will be able to support you.

Show My Homework (SMHW)

We have provided parent log in details to SMHW so you can log on and check what home learning has been set each week for your child. If you have not previously accessed your parent account for SMHW and would like to gain access, or your child needs to double check their log in details, please email admin@carletonhigh.patrust.org.uk

Click on the links below to see video or written user guides for pupils and parents which you may find of use.

Google Classroom

We also have use of 'Google Classroom,' an online school platform that gives staff and students the capability to share work both ways - students can submit work for checking as well as receive it. Google Classrooms also allows students to use Word, Excel, Publisher and other programmes. All work will continue to be set and explained on Show My Homework, but some subjects will direct students onto Google Classroom.

All student login details for google classroom are fullname@carletonhigh.co.uk eg, joebloggs@carletonhigh.co.uk. Students should know their passwords, but again, if they need any support, email admin@carletonhigh.patrust.org.uk
