“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
Our Physical Education curriculum intent is to instill a lifelong love of physical activity through an active and engaging curriculum.
By providing a broad curriculum, students will participate in a wide range of physical activities both as an individual and as a team. The curriculum provides opportunities for students to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness, and to recognise the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle which will continue into adulthood. There are extensive opportunities to compete in sport and other activities that help to build character and to embed values such as fairness and respect.
In addition, the curriculum provides the knowledge, skills and understanding to not only develop as a sports performer but the wider skills important to sports development such as character, leadership and the ability to analyse and improve performance, as well as the contemporary issues surrounding sport in the UK.
Each department has carefully developed curriculum plans in line with our curriculum intent. The curriculum overview for each year group in this subject can be found below.
