Students are fantastic in their PE lessons at Carleton High School; they work hard, make fantastic progress and help each other to succeed. Our mission is to ensure that all students can engage in high quality physical education lessons, through delivering a wide range of different activities. If students enjoy physical activity while in school, they will be more likely to engage in physical activity out of school and develop a lifelong commitment to an active lifestyle.

Students will have the opportunity to compete in a variety of team and individual sports, such as football, rugby, netball, tennis, badminton, rounders, fitness, tennis, cricket, dance and athletics. This allows them to develop confidence and resilience, and build transferable skills including leadership, communication and teamwork. As students progress through the school they have the opportunity to choose the kinds of activities that they participate in, they are also offered opportunities to lead and organise activities for younger students. Students are encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise both in and out of curriculum lessons.

A wide range of enrichment activities are delivered by over ten different staff members, along with a range of different house competitions throughout the year to foster competition. We have made links with a range of different local providers, which allows us to direct students to clubs outside of school and run taster sessions with local coaches and clubs.
