Orchard Head Junior, Infant and Nursery School are holding a fundraising event to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association starting in the week commencing the 10th of October. Most of you will already know that this is a charity that means a lot to the school, not least as a result of one of our parents, Rob Burrow MBE, having been diagnosed with MND in December 2019. The school felt it only fitting to link our fundraising to Rob’s career at Leeds Rhinos and their home stadium at Headingley.
Headingley Stadium sits approximately 16 miles from Orchard Head and our children and staff will be taking part in a sponsored walk of 16 miles in order to raise funds for the MND Association. This will take place over a 3-week period (in school) with the final 16th mile being walked in week 4. The plan is below:
w.c – 10th October – 1 mile per day
w.c – 17th October – 1 mile per day
w.c – 24th October – Half Term (rest!)
w.c – 31st October – 1 mile per day
Tuesday 8th November – last mile!
On Tuesday 8th November, at 2.30pm, children and staff will walk mile 16. Parents/carers will be invited into the school to see this happen and support. More details to follow.
Children will be provided with a ‘distance card’ to record their miles walked and we have set up this Just Giving link for them to raise sponsorship through.
We would really appreciate your support with this worthy fundraiser and look forward to seeing many of you for the final 16th mile celebration! You can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/orchard-head-walk-for-rob
