Teachers from Carleton High School have become overnight YouTube stars since releasing their parodys of Queen’s Bohemian Rapsody and Wannabe by the Spice Girls. https://youtu.be/Sj6U7OuJu48  /  https://youtu.be/wpPecxGLlNk

Collectively the clips have received 10,000 views on YouTube, many from the Pontefract and surrounding area.  Feedback from the Pontefract community has been overwhelming and the funny clips have certainly lifted the students and staff spirits during lockdown.  The videos featured staff from across the school singing in their gardens, in their front rooms and also in the school grounds.  There was also a great range of instruments played in the videos including a saxophone, piano, electric guitars and a few air guitars thrown in for comedy value.

Jo Cross, Headteacher at Carleton High School said: “2020 is a year that none of us will forget for many reasons but I’m so incredibly proud of all the staff and students at Carleton High School for how they have tackled this head on.  The videos are something that we’ll all look back on with a smile and the Carleton staff band have raised the bar so high that we’re looking forward to seeing them all on stage together hopefully in the new term.  After the success of the Bohemian Rapsody video, where we advised students to stay home, wash their hands and keep safe, we wanted to do another video to wish everyone a relaxing summer break. What better way to do this than with the help of the Spice Girls to mark their 25th anniversary and a fun video.”

Carleton High School is part of Pontefract Academies Trust, which is a multi academy trust educating around 3,500 young people in Pontefract.  For more information about Pontefract Academies Trust please  visit: https://www.pontefractacademiestrust.org.uk/
