We are delighted to share the outcomes of the recent Ofsted inspection for Carleton High School, which took place in November 2024.
Carleton High School was given the outcome of ‘good improving’. The ungraded (section 8) inspection suggests that the school’s work may have improved significantly across all areas since the previous inspection when it was rated ‘Good’ overall. The school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection.
This milestone reflects the extraordinary journey that Carleton High School has been on since 2018 and perfectly captures the essence of family and ‘Team Carleton’ that is at the heart of the school.
Report Highlights
The inspectors were particularly impressed with how students are “unfailingly polite and courteous” and highlighted how “‘pupils care deeply for each other.”
The report also notes the strength of Carleton’s curriculum and the exceptional experiences that they provide for students, from co-curricular opportunities and trips, to learning beyond the classroom.
Students also stated that the “best thing about lessons are the teachers”, reflecting the commitment and expertise from our staff.
Shaheen Shariff, Headteacher at Carleton High School, praises the report as being “a powerful endorsement of the exceptional care, education, and love we strive to provide every day at Carleton High School.”
Looking Ahead
This result is a fantastic testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff and students.
Both Carleton High School and Pontefract Academies Trust will continue to grow and work on areas of improvement, so that we can become the very best version of ourselves. We look forward to the future and what’s to come for Team Carleton.
