At Pontefract Academies Trust, we believe that education is most powerful when schools and families work together. In support of this belief, we are proud to be launching a series of parent workshops to help support our school community.
Throughout May, we’ll be offering four ‘How To…’ workshops, each covering an important topic that affects pupils and their families. These sessions will offer expert insights, practical strategies, and key tools – creating a space for parents to learn and feel empowered.
Our workshops include:
- How to Improve Sleep and Behaviour Through Effective Routine – this session is with Future in Mind and explores the connection between sleep and behaviour (EYFS to Year 7).
- How to Support your Child with Emotionally Based School Avoidance – this session is with EPS Service and explores the causes and signs of Emotional-Based School Avoidance (Year 3 to Year 11).
- How to Manage Screen Time and Digital Safety – this session is with Future in Mind and explores the impact that excessive digital use can have on emotional wellbeing and self-esteem (EYFS to Year 7).
- How to Break the Silence: A Parent’s Guide to County Lines and Keeping Children Safe – this session is with St Giles and explores county lines, how they operate, and how young people become involved (Year 5 to Year 11).
Each workshop will be led by professional experts – ranging from school leaders and safeguarding experts to local services.
Why Parent Workshops?
We know that parenting in today’s world is not easy. From rising mental health concerns to the use of technology, our young people face pressures that can be overwhelming. These workshops form part of our commitment to supporting families and our community to ensure that every child can thrive.
