Pontefract Academies Trust raise £7,442 for Local Hospice

Pontefract Academies Trust has raised over £7,442 for The Prince of Wales Hospice in just four months. All eight schools have been working incredibly hard over the past four months to raise much needed funds for the hospice as they know how difficult it’s been for charities during the pandemic. Fundraising activities so far have included non-uniform days, Reindeer Runs, collecting money in the hospices star jars and much more. Pontefract Academies Trust Support Children’s Mental Health Week

Pontefract Academies Trust has been embracing Children’s Mental Health Week and encouraging all their students to find activities that help them feel good about themselves whether that be art, drama, exercise or music. The schools will be following the Place2Be’s theme of ‘Dress to Express’ this week and all students and staff will be taking part. Students are encouraged to wear their favourite colours or even sports strip to help share their feelings and thoughts. More than 500 teachers and staff from Pontefract Academies Trust are collecting tins of food and urgent items to donate to the Pontefract food bank. The Trust are pleased to be able to help them continue their phenomenal work of helping those needing support especially the increased numbers during the pandemic. Pontefract Academies Trust Pledge Support for Motor Neurone Disease Association and The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract

Pontefract Academies Trust has announced that for this academic year all of their eight schools as well as the central office, will be fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) as their national charity and The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract as their local charity. Carleton High School Awarded Most Improved School in North of England

Carleton High School in Pontefract, part of Pontefract Academies Trust, has been hailed as the most improved school in the North of England, according to the Fairer Secondary Schools Index league tables, published by the Northern Powerhouse Partnership The index ranks schools on a contextual progress score that takes pupils’ backgrounds into account.  Even prior to this award, Carleton High School has been making history with their phenomenal progress having moved from special measures to Ofsted good in just twelve months which in the education sector is very rare. Carleton High School Staff YouTube Success

30 July 2020 Carleton High School Staff YouTube Success Teachers from Carleton High School have become overnight YouTube stars since releasing their parodys of Queen’s Bohemian Rapsody and Wannabe by the Spice Girls. https://youtu.be/Sj6U7OuJu48  /  https://youtu.be/wpPecxGLlNk Collectively the clips have received 10,000 views on YouTube, many from the Pontefract and surrounding area.  Feedback from the Pontefract community has been overwhelming and the funny clips have certainly lifted the students and staff spirits during lockdown.  The videos featured staff from across the school singing in their gardens, in their front rooms and also in the school grounds.  There was also a… Read more

Carleton High School graded ‘good’ by Ofsted for the first time in ten years

Staff and pupils at Carleton High School are celebrating after being rated a good school by Ofsted following an inspection on the 4th and 5th July 2019. The school under its previous leadership had been placed in special measures in 2017. The 11-16 school, part of Pontefract Academies Trust, now has its highest rating for ten years. New leadership at trust and school level have taken the school out of special measures and to a good rating in a twelve-month period.
